  • John Stanley - President, Founder

    After a successful 25-year career with the YMCA, John founded The Legacy Group in 1999 as a consulting and management firm for philanthropists, and his team has since counseled on charitable gifts in excess of $60 million. John’s unique ability to discover peoples’ passion to make a difference paired with his team’s proficiency in execution has earned peer recognition, most recently as the Wisconsin Leadership Institute’s “Collaborative Leader of the Year, 2006.” John also plays the part of philanthropist as a trustee for his family’s foundation. He serves on the board of Nativity Jesuit Middle School, an urban school for Latino boys, as a philanthropic advisor for the Family Wealth Alliance, as an advisory board member for Philanthropy World Magazine, and as a Leadership and Financial Development Committees member for YMCA’s Camp Mantio-wish. John and his family live in Milwaukee, WI and Dallas, TX.
  • Pat Woehrer - Vice President, Client Services

    Pat has worked with large and small private foundations for 20 years. Pat enjoys helping private foundations navigate start-ups, fulfill donor values and vision, resolve legal and tax issues, and design innovative solutions to giving challenges. Donor member organizations call upon Pat for technical support. She also conducts foundation management and grant making workshops. As Vice President of Client Services for The Legacy Group, Pat’s expertise ensures excellent service while continuing in her role as Senior Philanthropic Advisor to clients. Pat also offers her skills as a community volunteer.
  • Joe MacInnis - Senior Advisor

    Joe is a leader in re-engineering business processes with experience in crisis management and problem resolution. Proactive team building, recognizing and accelerating strengths of personnel, and critically analyzing human and financial resources demonstrate Joe’s leadership. He worked 7 years with The Paragon Group where he consulted with and managed a real estate portfolio valued at over $355 million. His tenure with Starwood Hotels and Resorts lasted 4 years where he managed employees at three locations. Joe has worked with MarriageToday overseeing the construction of office and warehouse space, while managing the Ministry Response and Warehouse Depts. Recently, he was Director of Development at Faith City Ministries. Joe has been active with Young Life in AZ, FL, and CO for the last 20 years, overseeing operations, working with field staff, and as a Director in Tampa Bay.
  • Barbara Elliott - Senior Advisor

    Barbara is a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and the founder of the Center for Renewal for faith-based organizations. She has authored several books, including Candles Behind the Wall: Heroes of the Peaceful Revolution that Shattered Communism and Street Saints: Renewing America's Soul, in addition to articles published in the US and Europe. Barbara received the Eleanor Roosevelt Award for Human Rights for her work with refugees and the poor. She was appointed by President Reagan to the White House Office of Public Liaison, and represented the Heritage Foundation as Director of Legislative Information. Barbara was an evaluator for the Compassion Capital Fund of the U.S. government and the Equip the Saints Fund, as well as a foundation consultant, advising a total of $33 million in grantmaking over four years.
